Gann Valley South Dakota 57341 Population 21 Buffalo County Seat
While Gann Valley is small, there are a few other things going on here besides Highway Department happenings. Our County Elected Offices serve at the Court House, and the Post Office is open 6 days a week for your convenience in shipping. The Community Center hosts a coffee social hour every day except Sunday from 9:00 am - 10:00 am open to all to enjoy. Ken's Service at the end of Main Street can fix you up with lunch snacks and a beverage in addition to tire needs and automotive service. The old school on the hill is long ago closed, and crumbing from neglect nowadays. Few dances are held here as in the old days, but every once in a while they still hold a wedding dance in the old gym in the Legion Hall building. The fire department is a volunteer unit of available men who keep up three fire trucks ready to go if duty calls.

Gann Valley Fire Department
The on call group of local men donate their time and effort to protect this area. With three trucks they can quickly deploy as needed locally or in neighboring communities. In winter months two trucks are drained and stored in the main building shown here. The remaining unit is filled and kept in the west bay of the Highway Department Shop Building on call. The rear of this building is used by the Highway Department for winter storage of it's Spray Truck, 2955 JD, Portable Spray Unit, and misc items. The State DOT keeps a loader in this building also for loading salt/sand from a stockpile stored here for their sanders in icy weather. It is an excellent location for three different route plows that all end here from Miller, Woonsocket and Chamberlain.

Ken's Service
Don't let the name fool you, you won't be able to buy any gasoline here. Proprieter Kenneth Wulff has a small work bay and hoist to do oil changes and minor repairs, and sells and fixes tires and other misc automotive needs. Stop by weekday evenings and weekends for a cold soda pop or a refreshing beer and let Kenny give you the nickel tour. This is Gann Valley's oldest remaining place of business, located in hisoric downtown Gann Valley in central South Dakota.
